~~~Bonaire~~~
December 6-13, 2008
Wow how much fun could 13 people have on an island?
For those who didn't attend this year, I highly recommend a trip next year. Just remember that it's an
island with it's own reference of time. Things happen in their own time, and just be patient. But also
remember that island time also means people don't like working late. Stores open late and leave early.
Car Rentals-We arrived on Bonaire at 6am and made our way through the one baggage claim system to
the car rental station. Renting a truck there is not like renting a car here. Plan on the event lasting about
45 minutes. This first adventure sets you up for the true meaning of island style. Rental vehicles on the
island are all tuned by the same mechanic, which is why they all sound like they run on 2 cylinders with
sticky lifters. Don't worry, the trucks still get around great.
Den Laman Condominiums- The staff here were amazing, so friendly and sweet. Even when the security
guard leaves early and locks up the dive locker leaving your clothes and keys in it while you are diving,
the night manager will drive across the island and let you into your room. The restaurant is under new
management and the English manager works tirelessly to make sure you are happy with your meal. We
didn't have a bad meal once. The dive staff at Bonaire Dive Adventures on site was very helpful,
informative. For example, Niels went the extra mile to help locate a 10w HID lightbulbs at 4pm at night.
