Our Story |
The Admiralty Dive Center story is a simple one, we are all divers and felt that Port Townsend needed a dive shop where customers could feel at home, families were welcome, and they could find gear and training for a fair price. Our mission is simple: We try to bring out the best in every diver All of us at Admiralty Dive know there is a great diver within you. It's our job to support you as you become a diver that has a solid foundation of knowledge, excellent skills, and an appreciation for the sport. Diving is an activity that requires reqular participation, and we love the idea of diving more. Everyone at Admiralty Dive has fun while diving responsibly. Training doesn't end with basic open water We feel that a diver should continually strive to learn more, and that means continuing your education through formal classes, semiars, and other learning mechanisms. We practice what we preach and we ourselves are regularly attending classes to broaden our diving horizons as well. From advanced nitrox to closed circuit rebreathers to tri-mix we take classes as well. We take care of our fellow divers It seems simple, but the golden rule is what makes us different. We treat you the way we would like to be treated in a dive shop.We work hard to make ADC a place where divers can come and feel welcome. Our air is tested quarterly, and we are happy to show you our recent certificate. Our compressor maintenance is carefully documented and all filters, traps and oils are replaced before standard service times. We know our prices and products can't be beat. Nobody here is on commission or has a sales quota they have to meet each month. That means the pressure is off and allows us to help you find the right gear for your needs. We're also a place where we encourage you to rent an item like a computer or cylinder before you buy it. If it's not in rental we're more than likely to loan ours. Rental equipment is serviced on 3 and 6 month schedules to make sure the equipment you use meets specs and works properly. Diving gear is life support equipment, it needs to work, it needs to be clean, and it needs to be there when you need it. Our shop maintains 2 PSI certified cylinder inspectors which requires regular re-certification. 3 certified technicians to service your gear properly. They undergo regular retraining to keep up to date with changes or procedures for the lines they care for. We test our air quarterly to ensure it is safe to use and meets/exceeds the industry standards. We want you to have a great dive training experience Instructors are the key to your success in diving, and not all instructors are the same. Ask questions, talk to the instructor, and ask other dive professionals for referrals. Questions to ask your potential instructor should include: |
1. How long have you been a certified scuba diver? 2. What's the average # of dives a year you complete, and what types of dives are they? 3. When did you become an instructor, and where did you get your instructor certification? 4. How many students have you certified? 5. How many students under your instruction have not completed the course, and why? 6. Are you a member of (selected agency) in good standing? 7. Do you and your shop have liability insurance? Provide proof? 8. Have you ever been suspended, revoked, or reprimanded by an agency? Why? 9. What is the ratio of students to instructors? Students to qualified/certified support staff? 10. Can you provide references for me to get in contact with? |
